Maturing Together In Christ
“They Devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."
Acts 2:42
Churches of Christ
Churches of Christ are one fellowship among three that are historically part of the Restoration Movement, sometimes known as the Stone-Campbell Movement. The other two are the Christian Church and The Disciples of Christ.
There are about 13,000 Churches of Christ in North America, with another 11,000 or so in the remainder of the world. There are about 140 Churches of Christ in Canada.
Several things form the identity of the Churches of Christ:
- We attempt to be biblical in everything we do.
- We attempt to emulate the earliest churches with respect to organization and worship.
- We began as a movement of Christians devoted to the unity of the entire body of Christ.
- Our churches are autonomous, with no head office or denominational structure. Each church is self-governed by a body of Elders.
