Maturing Together In Christ
“They Devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."
Acts 2:42
Statement of Faith
What We Believe
- We believe in God as revealed in the Bible; one God, in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God is the creator of the universe and the giver of life.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1ff; 14-17; 20:28
- We believe in the historical Jesus. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. We believe that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins, that He was buried, that He rose from the dead, and that He will return to bring to heaven (the home He is now preparing) those who believe in Him.
Matthew 27, 28; John 3:16; 14:1-6; Romans 5:6; Ephesians 2:13;
Colossians 1:19-20; 1 Timothy 2:4; 6:1; John 5:12 - We believe in the Holy Spirit, both as to His agency in conversion and as indwelling in the hearts of Christians.
Matthew 3:16; John 3:5-6; 16:8-10; Acts 1:4,8; 2:38; Romans 8:9-16
- We believe in the Bible. We believe that it is the Word of God, written by man through God's inspiration. We hold that the Scriptures are infallible and inerrant.
2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21
The following beliefs are based on the foundation of the four beliefs listed above:
- We believe in the salvation of humankind. God created humans to have fellowship with Him, but they defied God by sinfully going their own way. As a result, we need God's saving grace to end our alienation from God. Salvation comes only through God's grace - not human effort - and must be received personally by faith in Jesus.
Genesis 1:27; 3:6; 8:21;
Matthew 22:37; John 3:16; Acts 2:38-39;
Romans 3:23; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9 - We believe in the significance of baptism by immersion, as outlined in the New Testament.
Matthew 3:16; 28:18-20; Acts 2:38; 22:16; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4;
Galatians 3:27; 1 Peter 3:21 - We believe in sharing together the regular observance of the Lord's Supper. We remember each week through communion the life, death, and the resurrection of Christ.
Acts 2:42; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
- We believe that there is one true church universal, comprised of all those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. The Scriptures command believers to gather together in order to devote themselves to worship, prayer, the teaching of the Word, the observance of baptism and communion, fellowship, service to the body through the development and use of talents and gifts, and outreach to the world. Whenever God's people meet regularly in obedience to these commands there is the local expression of the church.
